ABOUT THE PROJECT

Comidex

Comidex

Comidex is a student project app design for comic reviewing, searching, logging, and discussion. It puts all of the user's comic needs into one place and allows them to keep track of and find new comics to enjoy. It provides these services through a modern interface that accentuates the comic style and shows off many different series at once.

The process began with research and user insights, and using those to develop the app concept. It then lead into branding and aesthetic ideation, and finally the finished app interface.

Empathize & Understand

In order to empathize with the userbase and understand their point of view I created a user persona, user journeys, and user flows. This assisted me greatly in understanding what information was the most important to include and how to set up the app navigation and layout with hierarchy of information.

Some of the key features would be:

  • An emphasis on new comic discovery

  • Reviewing, discussion, and community features

  • Being able to log current chapters and series

Ideation

Ideation

Wireframe Process

During wireframing I kept in mind my research:

  • Strong hierarchy

  • Show the most important information

  • Clean, sleek, dark mode design

  • Logging & community features

  • Easy to discover new series

Final App Ideation

As the wireframes developed, I continuously went back to my research and ensured that I was on the right track and incorporating those ideas. This meant:

  • Ensuring the Title, Genre, and Rating were displayed for each series first, being the most important information for the target audience.

  • As the wireframes developed, layout and hierarchy were experimented with and trying to get similar results to the related and competitor app research was key, as that is what the user would be familiar with.
